American Pharoah, Donald Trump, the Media, the Stock Market and Making Your Own Decisions

Not everything makes perfect sense. Actually, most things, don’t make any sense. But make up your own mind. Make your own decisions. The financial media gurus. The sportscasters who hate Tim Tebow. The mainstream media news anchors and especially the political talking head pundits – ALL of all these media idiots, pretend to know more than you. They do not. It makes no sense. THEY READ PREPARED TELEPROMPTERS. They pretend to hold your hand and walk you through everything but it’s a total scam.

There are about 5,000 publicly traded companies on U.S. based stock exchanges. This is half as many as in 1995. Everything is contracting. But the financial media is in love with only five or so stocks (not to mention themselves because they think they’re really smart) Apple, Amazon, Google, Netflix and Tesla. However I can not find one financial anchor or guru who has owned any of these companies from the jump. I can not find one financial guru who admits to ever losing money. I also can not find one financial wizard who begged anyone to get out of Enron, World Com, AIG or Lehman Brothers before they collapsed. Look at the data. Make up your own mind.

The mainstream sports media and television horse racing analysts covering American Pharoah’s sweep of the Triple Crown this year and horse racing in general (very general, because nobody really much covers it) act like they actually know something about horse racing. About race day medication. About the decline of the sport. How to fix the sport. Blah, blah. They don’t. They are only following cognitive bias, conventional thinking and noise. None of them have an original thought. They are regurgitating only what they’ve been told by and heard from the same “no-nothings” that came before or above them who claim expert status.

You have to be close to – if not – 50 years old to even remember, let alone to have watched Affirmed beat Alydar and win the previous Triple Crown in 1978. I was in the jock’s room at Arlington Park, watching a black and white TV, screaming with the other 25 riders in the room at the top of our lungs from the top of the stretch to the wire. It was a 50/50 split about who was pulling for who. I’ll never forget the feeling or the scene that day. It was unbelievable.

Today, a measurable percentage of the sports media and other “so-called” experts weren’t even born in 1978 and they act like they have some point of reference between American Pharoah in 2015 and Secretariat, Seattle Slew and Affirmed who were of the last of the glory days of horse racing from the mid-1960’s through the mid-1990’s. These people are 100% clueless. Now, take nothing away from American Pharoah. HE WON. HE DID IT. He deserves his victories, accolades and title. But come on, these people in the media are merely stating the obvious. They have no “blanking” idea.

As well, the mainstream media can not for the life of themselves figure out why Donald Trump is resonating in the polls among so many Americans. They are stunned, shocked and flabbergasted. Their reasoned explanations of his looming and imminent demise are not coming to pass. He’s currently winning because he marches to his own tune. He is not concerned with what makes sense to them or how it’s always been done. He is not chained by the past or by conventional wisdom, which is also a scam. Look at the data and the state of the USA in the last 20+ years. Again, make your own decision.

Donald Trump is exposing not only the Democrats AND Republicans as world class charlatans who are basically the flip side of the same coin, he is also exposing the media types, both liberal and conservatives as dis-connected, outta touch, academic, mental midgets. Children really. He is preparing their lunches, then eating it before they can even unfold their napkins. Not only is he ripping out their tongues, he’s eating their hearts and drinking their blood. Or shall we say, he’s giving them a good dose of their own medicine. He is putting on a clinic in how to play chess. Like him or not, Donald Trump is a Grandmaster. These people have never experienced anything like it. And they don’t like it. He pays no attention to them except to use them to his advantage.

The best way to take advantage of any booming market or opportunity is to invest in your own original ideas. Have an extra $500 or $5,000 or $50,000 don’t put it into mainstream stocks. Invest it in yourself. You’ll make 10,000% instead of 3% per year or less. And oh, by the way, there’s less risk betting on yourself than on a corrupt financial playing field that has been exposed as largely rigged. Don’t believe me? Read “Flash Boys” by Michael Lewis.

Never Listen to the Financial Media. They Read Teleprompters.

I know a little bit about this which I write. Even while winding down my career in the horse racing world, I’ve managed money professionally for 15 years. I’ve had plenty of winners and losers. Been hired and fired a few times. Accepted and rejected. Made a few small fortunes and have also had my scalp and brains handed to me more than once while my money was taken away from me and my clients – viciously.

One thing about it though, I’m still here. I refuse to yield. I’ve tried numerous new things over the last 15 or so years. (See a previous blog post: “Parting With My Past”) They haven’t all worked but I’ve survived. I am not beholden to anyone, any organization, any boss, a shaky corporation or company, publisher or an editor. I’m not hand-cuffed by a rigged 401k or the B.S. promise of “benefits” and especially not by any outdated conventional thinking.

Think for yourself. Don’t be lead down a primrose path by academics, scholars, conventional thinkers and by over-rated, over-paid people who read teleprompters. You can quote me on this one: “Don’t be fooled by the illusion of intelligence or the fallacy of credentials.”
